What is Required?
Isolated power systems are not just for flammable inhalation anesthetizing locations. The “Operating Room as Wet/Dry Locations Risk Assessment Project” prepared by Brenton Cox, Ph.D. offers great insight into the intent of NFPA 99, 2012 Edition, section 63.2.2.8.4.
The NFPA 99, section 6.3.2.2.8.2 requires “A power distribution system that inherently limits the possible ground-fault current due to a first fault to a low value, without interrupting the power supply”. MainPro provides the only portable Line Isolation Monitors that meet this requirement.
The utmost care is necessary in the use and maintenance of all electrical systems and equipment. Since accidents do happen, the “utmost care” would include isolated power for the safety of the patient, doctors, and nurses that may find themselves standing in fluids during an operation.
